BJP has reposed faith in its sitting MLA Ram Sharan Verma to contest the forthcoming 2017 assembly election to Bisalpur. In 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP candidate from the Pilibhit Lok Sabha constituency, Maneka Gandhi, had secured a lead of 45878 votes over his nearest BSP rival Anis Ahmad Khan alias Phool Babu in the Bisalpur assembly segment which forms part of the aforementioned Lok Sabha constituency.
